Admissions

Gifford is a coeducational day school approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), to serve students ages 8 and up, typically in grades 4-12. 

We maintain collaborative relationships with over 60 referring school districts within a 50 mile radius. Students may start at any point throughout the school year or during our summer program.

We maintain collaborative relationships with over 60 referring school districts within a 50 mile radius. Students may start at any point throughout the school year or during our summer program.  

Students must be found eligible for special education services by their school district and referred to Gifford as the first step in the admissions process.

Admissions & Placement Process

  • 01 - Referral Submission

    The process begins when a public school district submits a formal placement referral, including the student's current IEP and academic records.

  • 02 - Initial Review

    The Admissions Director evaluates the student’s diagnostic assessments and clinical profile to ensure Gifford can provide the necessary supports

  • 03 - Family Outreach & Tour

    If the referral is a potential fit, the Director contacts the family to discuss programming and schedule a comprehensive campus tour.

  • 04 - Committee Review

    The Admissions Committee meets to review all gathered information and determines if the school is the right environment for the student.

  • 05 - Enrollment Decision

    Placement is offered on a rolling basis, allowing students to enroll during the school year or the 20-day summer program.
